The Hawkeye football team has its first 3 verbal commitments for the 2007 recruit class. Cody Hundertmark is a 6’4″, 266lb DT from Humboldt, IA, Colin Sandeman is a 6’1″, 188lb WR from Bettendorf, IA, and Tyler Nielsen is a 6’4″, 205lb LB also from Humboldt, IA. As you’ll notice all three are from Iowa. The recruit class of 2006 had no instate recruits. It is nice that Iowa is nabbing the best instate recruits after last year when there weren’t many top recruits in Iowa.

Alford signs new recruit
The Hawkeye basketball team landed a big recruit yesterday. Malik Perry, a 6’5″ shooting guard from Philadelphia, signed a national letter of intent to play at Iowa. Perry is rated as a 3 star recruit by Rivals.com and is the 5th 3 star or better recruit in Iowa’s 2006 class.
Iowa might get another recruit in landing a transfer. David Palmer, a 6′ 9″ forward/center from Seton Hall, is considering transferring to Iowa. He might follow new coach Billy Garrett from Seton Hall. He would lose a year of eligibility, but would be able to play in 2007-8 as a junior.
This is great news after Iowa lost 8 players in the past 2 months to graduation or transfer.
