On January 1, 2005 12pm Iowa will take on Louisiana State in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla. This should be an excellent game. The teams are quite similar. Both have great defenses and their offenses have had problems. On paper LSU seems to have an edge on both offense and defense. LSU has allowed fewer yard and fewer points per game. Iowa does have an advantage in turnover margin and they have been successful in creating points from the turnovers. On offense LSU again has the advantage on paper with more yards and points.
My prediction? On paper LSU should beat the Hawks. I bleed black and gold, so I have to believe the Hawkeye magic will continue for one more game. Somehow the D will create the turnovers and the offense will convert those into points. The defenses are so good this has to be a low scoring game. Iowa’s rushing attack will still be bad, but I think they will get several FG opportunities. My prediction: Iowa 16 LSU 14.
